PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain carbon black for compounding of a functional part rubber, capable of providing dynamic characteristics such as impact resilience, compression set, etc., compounding processability and reinforcing properties in good balance. SOLUTION: In this carbon black having 40-70 (m<2> /g) nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2 SA), 150-230 (mL/100 g) DBP oil absorption amount (D0 ) and the ratio (D1 /D0 ) of the DBP absorption amount (D0 ) and 24M4DBP oil absorption amount (D1 ) of D1 /D0 >=0.50, the carbon black has the following selective characteristics of (1) the ratio of nitrogen adsorption specific surface area (N2 SA) and iodine adsorption amount (IA) (N2 SA/IA):N2 SA/IA>=0.98, (2) the ratio (ΔDst/Dst) of a mode diameter (Dst) of aggregate stokes corresponding diameter distribution and a half value width (ΔDst):0.55<=ΔDst/Dst <=0.70, (3) a value (a) calculated by a=D1 /(ΔDst/Dst): 140<=a<=200, with the proviso that 24MDBP oil absorption amount is a compression DBP absorption amount, Dst is a stokes mode diameter of a carbon black aggregate measured by a disc centrifuge apparatus (DCF) andΔDst is a half value width of the stokes diameter distribution.
