PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the responsiveness at steep changing of a variable valve timing control mechanism(VVT) which is applied to an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: For a specified period of time, a relative rotation is forcedly performed in the changing direction of the target relative rotating angle without resorting to the F/B(feedback) control in accordance with the deviation of the actual relative rotating angle from the normal target relative rotating angle when the change amount of the target relative rotating angle for a VVT 50 is over the specified value and a quick responsiveness is demanded. That is, the drive Duty for a linear solenoid 41 of a spool valve 40 is made 0% for the forced operating time by an ECU 30 if the changing direction of the target relative rotating angle lies on the lag side, and made 100% if on the advance side, and thereby the transition condition of the actual relative rotating angle when the target relative rotating angle is in steep changing is made in a curve as falling or rising quicker than conventional, which should lead to improvement of the responsiveness in the VVT 50.
|
