PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive or negative image forming material for direct plate making such that an image can be formed by exposure to light in a near-infrared and infrared region, that direct plate making is possible from digital data such as data from a computer by recording with a laser having a light emission region in the region above described, and that the image forming material has high sensitivity in the region above described and suppressing property against changes in dots, and to provide an image forming method to form an image on the image forming material by using a laser having the light emission region in the region above described. SOLUTION: This image forming material is produced by forming a photosensitive layer on a metal supporting body having an anodic oxidation film with the coating film amt. of >=10 and <=60 mg/m<2> . The photosensitive layer contains a compd. which can produce an acid by irradiation of active rays, a compd. having a group which crosslinks with the acid, and an IR absorbent. Or, the image forming material is produced by forming a photosensitive layer on a metal supporting body having an anodic oxidation film with the coating film amt. of >=10 and <=60 g/m<2> . The photosensitive layer contains a compd. which can produce an acid by irradiation of active rays, a compd. having a bonding part which can be decomposed by the acid, and an IR absorbent. |
