PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acceleration detecting device capable of obtaining information for determining the state of acceleration with a degree of accuracy necessary for the control of a vehicle with maintaining the performance of a controller as before without incurring any rise in cost. SOLUTION: In a low vehicle speed regionβ1 in which vehicle speed V does not exceed a predetermined vehicle speed Von, the state of acceleration of a vehicle is detected on the basis of pulse signals generated at time intervals responsive to vehicle speed. In a high vehicle speed regionβ2 exceeding the predetermined vehicle speed Von, the detection of the pulse signal is prohibited. and the state of acceleration is not detected. Therefore, it is possible to obtain information for determining the state of acceleration with a degree of accuracy necessary for the control of the vehicle with maintaining the performance of a controller as before without incurring any rise in cost.
