PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of generating a multi-ring beam by using a cylindrical light conductor and to provide a multi-ring beam generating element. SOLUTION: A cylindrical rod 1 is prepared in which an incident end face 10 and an emitting end face are respectively provided with an almost vertical end face to an optical axis A. Then, plural light sources are arranged by a prescribed method so that each incident angleθdiffers from each other by tilting plural incident lightΦ1 , 2, 3,... to the incident end face 10. Thereafter, the incident lightΦ1 ,Φ2 ,Φ3 are made incident on the incident end face 10 of the cylindrical rod 1 at incident anglesθin1 ,θin2 ,θin3 , respectively. As the result, as shown in (b), multi-ring beams L1 , L2 , and L3 on a concentric circle corresponding to plural emitting light fluxes are formed on a virtual plane P perpendicular to the optical axis, respectively.
