PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an engine oil composition for ships, having excellent neutralizing actions on produced sulfuric acid and capable of improving preventing properties of corrosion and abrasion. SOLUTION: This engine oil for ships is obtained by including (A) 1-30 mass.% overbasic alkaline earth metallic phenate having >400 mg KOH/g and <=500 mg KOH/g base number, <=1,000 mm<2> /s viscosity at 100 deg.C and 1-20 mass.% total amount of fatty acids, (B) 0.5-15 mass.% overbasic alkaline earth metallic salicylate having >200 mg KOH/g and <=350 mg KOH/g base number, (C) 0.5-15 mass.% overbasic alkaline earth metallic salicylate having 100-200 mg KOH/g base number and (D) 0.1-5 mass.% nonionic surfactant in a base oil of a mineral oil or a synthetic lubricating oil or a mixture of both. |
