PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electrophotographic photoreceptor which has excellent wear resistance and printing durability, high durability and high lubricating property, which does not produce cracks in a photosensitive layer by repeated use, which shows little decrease in the potential stability, residual potential and photosensitivity by specifying the contact angle with pure water and the film thickness of the photosensitive layer. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor is produced by forming a photosensitive layer on a conductive supporting body. Relating to the photosensitive layer, the contact angle with pure water at the position >=1μm apart from the outermost surface of the photosensitive layer is >=90 deg., and the film thickness of the photosensitive layer is >=25μm. Since the contact angle of the bulk of the photosensitive layer becomes const. after the layer is worn by nearly 1μm, it is enough to measure the contact angle at the position where the layer is worn by >=1μm. In order to measure the contact angle, it is practical that the photoreceptor is assembled in a copying machine and worn by a real copying test. The binder used is not limited as far as it can control the contact angle of the bulk to the specified range, and compds. containing silicon atoms or fluorine atoms are preferable. Most of the compds. are polycarbonate-based resins.
