The roll (1) is formed from a continuous band (2) having, on its lower face (2a), an adhesive coating (3). This coating is applied on the band upper face (2b) in the roll which is the face of a fabric, certain stitches (4) of which have loose threads (5). These threads, after unwinding of the band, are raised to form loops. The method for placing on a substrate (18) consists of unwinding the band from the roll, forming the loops by raising the stitches and applying the lower face of a section of the band on the substrate.
