Molding an injection foamed product with material sections having different properties

Pre-forms (3a, 4a) of a secondary polymer are located in separate cavity areas (15, 17) of a main tool cavity and a primary polymer mixture (2a) containing a blowing agent is injected into the remaining cavity area of the closed tool. The tool (10) is maintained for a given time at a suitable temperature and pressure and then opened to allow both materials to expand. The primary and secondary polymers crosslink with each other during heating. An Independent claim is also included for an injection foamed product with areas having different material properties.
