The load-bearing base (4) of the carrier (3) in the vehicle can be moved out into a loading position from a position which is lowered in relation to the loading edge. When it is in the loading position the bottom forms a loading surface which is parallel to the floor of the boot or trunk and which ends flush with or above the loading edge. The carrier is detachably connected to the floor of the boot, and the loading-bearing bottom is detachably connected to the carrier.
