METHOD FOR DETECTING MALFUNCTIONS OF A FIRST RELAY

The invention relates to a method for detecting malfunctions of a first relay (51) whose switching means are series connected to a consumer (11) and interrupt or close down the connection to the consumer depending on the appropriate switching position in accordance with the switching instructions. A current flowing through a circuit that includes the switching means is measured and a malfunction is of the relay, especially freezing of said relay, is detected if the current intensity does not correspond to the current intensity to be expected according to the selected switching position. Other relays which can be provided for inversion of consumer potentials can be included in the test. The inventive method makes it possible to test a relay without moving the actuators, provided that the relays are in order. It also provides a considerable saving in time due to the fact that not all relays need to be triggered for the test.
