The traffic lights are arranged in a conventional way with the red and green lights on either side of the amber. In order to provide improved visibility in bright sunlight the red and green light units incorporate smaller stroboscopic light bulbs (6) These operate at a frequency of 2-6 Hz when the main bulb (5) is on. An alternative version has the stroboscope lighting elements position adjacent to the conventional ones
