ENERGY MEASURING INSTRUMENT FOR A PULSED LASER

The invention relates to an energy measuring instrument for a pulsed laser. The novel energy measuring instrument detects the energy of a laser pulse using the photo acoustic effect. The light pulses are absorbed by a robust absorber (3) in a hollow chamber (10). The resulting heating of the air in said hollow chamber leads to a pressure pulse which is detected by a microphone (6). The novel energy measuring instrument is suitable for measuring low laser energies ( mu J to mJ). The measuring instrument is also suitable for measuring stronger laser energies ( mu J to mJ) during further execution which contains an expanded dynamic. The application of the measuring instrument is used in the areas of measuring, treatment of materials and medicine.
