Apparatus and method for producing articles in which ends of optical filaments(La, Lb) are inserted in a fabric (F'), trailing lengths of filament are drawn from the inserted ends, and are captive in a terminal block (T); many inserted ends form one or more display patterns (P-1, P-2), and all the trailing lengths of filament of one or more patterns are grouped by retention at one or more common selected portions (N-5, N-11) of the terminal block.
