PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new oligopeptide composed of an oligopeptide having a specific amino acid sequence, effective for the prophylaxis, treatment, etc., of hypertension as an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor and usable also as a functional food, etc. SOLUTION: This new oligopeptide is composed of an amino acid sequence expressed by the formula or its acid addition salt. The compound is useful as pharmaceuticals effective for the prophylaxis, treatment, etc., of hypertension as an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor, etc., and useful also as a functional food, etc. The oligopeptide can be produced by hydrolyzing human blood plasma or human serum albumin with trypsin in a buffer solution of pH 6-8 at 37 deg.C to form oligopeptide, treating the solution at 100 deg.C for 30 min to effect the denaturation and inactivation of trypsin, subjecting to centrifugal separation at 4 deg.C and a rotational speed of 15,000 rpm and separating and purifying the supernatant by cation exchange column chromatography, reversed phase high- performance liquid chromatography, etc. |
