PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain piezoelectric ceramics not contg. lead at all or hardly contg. lead and excellent in a mode in an extension direction and piezoelectric characteristics in a horizontal direction by preparing perovskite type ceramics contg. rhombic crystals as the principal phase and crystal oriented ceramics having a specified orientation degree. SOLUTION: The piezoelectric ceramics comprises perovskite type ceramics contg. rhombic crystals as the principal phase and crystal oriented ceramics having oriented 100} faces under pseudo-cubic expression and having >=30% orientation degree by the Lotgering method. The perovskite type ceramics is, e.g. perovskite type solid soln. ceramics contg. Bi0.5 Na0.5 TiO3 (BNT) as the principal phase. A compd. forming the solid soln. with the BNT is, e.g. Bi0.5 K0.5 TiO3 , BaTiO3 , PbTiO3 , SrTiO3 , CaTiO3 , NaNbO3 or KNbO3 . |
