<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable stably and accurately measuring a sludge interface by moving up and down an interface detecting means for detecting an interface between a sludge phase and a supernatant phase in a reaction tank and determining the interface position from the interface detecting means and the measured value of the position of the interface detecting means at that time. SOLUTION: A reaction tank 1 holds granule sludge consisting essentially of anaerobic bacteria, and raw water is caused to flow in the tank from piping 2. By this inflow of the raw water, a sludge phase 3 of high sludge concentration and a supernatant phase 4 of low sludge concentration are formed in the reaction tank 1 to form a sludge interface 5 between the two. In order to detect the sludge interface 5, an interface position searching means 6 consisting of a bobbin-shaped elevating/lowering means 6a and a communication cable 6b is provided and to the tip of the communication cable 6b, an interface detecting means 7 such as an underwater camera is fitted. And from the output of a position measuring means 8 when the interface detecting means 7 detects interface 5, the interface position is calculated by averaging treatment in an arithmetic means 10.</p> |
