PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound useful as a catalyst component for anα-olefin polymer having a wide molecular weight distribution while keeping a high stereoregularity and a high melting point. SOLUTION: This compound is an aminosilane compound of formulas I or II (R<1> is a 1-8C hydrocarbon; R<2> is a 2-24C hydrocarbon, a 2-24C hydrocarbonamino or the like; R<3> N a >=7C polycyclic amino forming a skeleton with N atom), e.g. bis(perhydroisoquinolino)dimethoxysilane. The compound of formula I can be obtained, for example, by the reaction of tetramethoxysilane or dichlorodimethoxysilane with two equivalent of an Mg salt or Li salt of an HNR secondary amine. The compound of formula II can be obtained, for example, by the equivalent reaction of an alkyltrimethoxysilane or an alkylchlorodimethoxysilane with an Mg salt or Li salt of the HNR secondary amine. The catalyst using the subject compound as one component can be used instead of a titanium trichloride type catalyst.
