PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering a tertiary amine from a formic acid tertiary amine salt. SOLUTION: This method for recovering a tertiary amine from a formic acid tertiary amine salt comprises thermally decomposing the formic acid tertiary amine salt in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst into the tertiary amine, hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
