PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To heighten the aromatic ring concentration in a foam without increasing the solution viscosity of the starting polyol and to thereby improve the flame retardancy of the foam by using as the polyol component an aromatic polyfunctional polyol compound having a structure derived by the condensation of an aromatic polycarboxylic acid with a phenoxy alcohol compound and a polyhydric alcohol compound. SOLUTION: At least a part, desirably 40-95 wt.%, based on the polyol component, of a polyol component is constituted by an aromatic polyfunctional polyol compound having a structure derived by the condensation of an aromatic polycarboxylic acid (e.g. isophthalic acid) with a phenoxy alcohol compound (e.g. diethylene glycol monophenyl ether) used in an amount of desirably 1-60 wt.% based on the reaction mixture and a polyhydric alcohol compound (e.g. diethylene glycol). Desirably, 0.1-20 pts.wt., based on 100 pts.wt. polyol component, organometallic complex (e.g. ferrocene) is further added. |
