PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing an olefin (co)polymer which can regulate the content of an atactic polymer to a predetermined value by (co) polymerizing an olefin in the presence of a catalyst system comprising a specified compd., an aluminoxane, a fine particle carrier, and an organoaluminum compd. SOLUTION: A transition metal compd., which is a (99.9:0.1) to (50:50) mixture of dl form and meso form, represented by the formula [wherein (C5 H4 -n R<2> n )MXY and (C5 H4 -m R<1> m ) represent each a substd. cyclopentadienyl; R<1> and R<2> represent each a 1-20C hydrocarbon group or the like; (m) and (n) are each 1 to 3; M represents a transition metal selected from among Ti, Zr, and Hf; and X and Y represent H, a halogen or the like], an aluminoxane, and a fine particulate carrier having a particle diameter of 1 to 500μm are reacted together at 0 to 100 deg.C for 0.1 min or longer to obtain a reaction product. The reaction product is combined with an organoaluminum compd. in an amt. of 1 to 10,000 mol based on one mol of the transition metal compd. to obtain a catalyst system. An olefin is (co)polymerized in the presence of this catalyst system to obtain a polyolefin having an atactic polymer content regulated to not more than 10%.
