The outer surface provided with apertures (4) is accessible from the burner body (3) for ambient air. A heat exchanger (7,8) is flowed through by at least a first heat transport medium and is positioned at a short distance from the apertures. During the operation of the burner the heat exchanger is in direct contact with the flames emitted by the burner (2). On the side of the first heat exchanger turned away from the burner is located a second heat exchanger through which flows a second heat transport medium. The first heat transport medium can be water or another fluid, air or another gas. The two heat exchangers are accommodated in a common housing.
