An emergency power generating system to use a domestic pressurized water system to generate electricity, the system including a piston mounted within a cylinder having inlet/outlet at each end thereof, and valve means for permitting the ingress and egress of water from the cylinder to thereby drive the piston in a reciprocal manner. A reciprocal motion of the piston is, through a series of be lt and pulley drives, translated into a rotary motion for powering an electric generato r.
