PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of abnormal shadow candidate detection at a breast picture at a method and device for detecting an abnormal shadow candidate. SOLUTION: An abnormal shadow candidate region is detected based on an entire image signal SA expressing the radioactive picture of a breast. Then, in an area the abnormal shadow candidate exists in the radiocative picture of one breast and a region in the radiocative image of the other breast corresponding to this area, iris filter processing is given to image signals SA and SB within each area to calculate iris output signal IA and IB in each area to obtain the difference value ΔI of each iris output value. An evaluating function value expressing the malignant degree of the existing area of the abnormal shadow candidate based on the image signal SA to give weight to the difference value ΔI by this evaluating function value. A difference value ΔI' given weight and a threshold value T0 are compared with each other to judge whether the abnormal shadow candidate is a definite abnormal shade candidate. |
