PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polynucleotide highly identical with a nucleic acid encoding hisS polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence, useful for e.g. the production of hisS useful for the treatment of microbial infections and, e.g. screening of antimicrobial compounds. SOLUTION: This polynucleotide is a newly isolated polynucleotide comprising a polynucleotide at least 70% identical with a polynucleotide encoding a polypeptide having an amino acid sequence, a polynucleotide at least 70% identical with a polynucleotide encoding the same matured polypeptide as expressed by hisS gene contained in the deposited strain, Streptcoccus pneumoniae, a polynucleotide encoding an polypeptide having an amino acid sequence at least 70% identical with an amino acid sequence of the formula or a base sequence such as polynucleotide complementary to these polynucleotides, and useful for treatment of microbial infection and e.g. screening of anti-microbial compounds. |
