PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively perform reduction decomposition of nitrogen monoxide even when concn. of nitrogen monoxide is low and without using a reducing agent by coordinating a metal ion on a dehydrated condensate obtd. by reacting salicylaldehyde with ethylenediamine. SOLUTION: A dehydrated condensate which is a multidentate ligand constituting this catalyst is obtd. as a yellow powder by performing dehydration condensation reaction of salicylaldehyde with ethylenediamine. Then, by a method wherein the powder obtd. is dissolved into an org. solvent such as ethanol and it is mixed with e.g. ethanol soln. of an inorg. salt of a metal contg. an aimed divalent metal ion, the divalent metal ion is coordinated. As the other methods, without obtaining the dehydrated condensate as a solid such as a powder, by reacting it with an inorg. salt of the metal contg. the objective divalent metal ion, coordination can be performed. This catalyst prepd. by coordinating a multidentate ligand metal ion is ordinarily obtd. as a powder. |
