Processes for the preparation of a vapor phase fluorination catalyst, its regeneration, and its use are provided. The catalyst of the invention is prepared by contacting a fluorination catalyst to chlorine during pretreatment of the catalyst, which serves to maintain catalyst life. The catalyst of the invention may be used in the vapor phase fluorination of hydrocarbons, halocarbons, and hydrohalocarbons to prepare fluorinated products in improved yield and with improved selectivity. |
