An improved process is described for the synthesis of phenol by the catalytic oxidation of benzene with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of titanium silicalite, wherein the improvement consists in the fact that the hydrogen peroxide is produced in situ by the reaction of oxygen, carbon monoxide and water in the presence of catalytic complexes of palladium with a nitrogenated ligand and a non-coordinating counter-ion. The process allows the production of phenol with a good yield and selectivity.
|
