SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of deforming metal in cone drawing dies at using technological lubricant and determining axial residual stresses in surface layer of article. Drawing degree for one pass is determined according to relation <EMI ID=0.463 HE=15 WI=48 TI=CHI>, where <EMI ID=0.464 HE=15 WI=15 TI=CHI> - relative axial residual stress in surface layer of article; <EMI ID=0.465 HE=12 WI=15 TI=CHI>- relative stress of countertension; sigma<SB>s</SB> - deformation resistance of material of drawn article; f - friction factor in deformation zone: alpha<SB>n</SB> - conicity angle of drawing die.
