FIELD: underground railways; contact rail heavy current expansion joints. SUBSTANCE: contact rail bond has two electrically interconnected similar steel transition plates of thickness D whose surfaces are divided into support-contact section and contact section adjoining support-contact section along straight line of length l<SB>ok</SB>. First section has form of rectangle of length l<SB>ok</SB> and width h<SB>ok</SB>, and second section has form of rectangular trapezium with bases l<SB>ok</SB> and l<SB>k</SB> < l<SB>ok</SB> and height h<SB>k</SB>. Conductors are electrically connected with plates within the limits of strip of width l<SB>k</SB> corresponding to smaller base of trapezium, and support-contact sections lie as a whole, on foot of rail of width h = h<SB>«k</SB>+Δ and are welded to rail foot over their perimeters by seat with leg Δ. Plates are arranged symmetrically relative to rail joint so that their edges of width h<SB>ok</SB> are parallel to each other and are arranged at a distance from each other and in zone of support-contact sections of both plates not occupied by above-indicated conductors, open slots of thickness, 4Δ are made bottom pointed towards joint. Slots are made through in thickness D and alternate with step 2Δ. Walls of slots are arranged at angle alpha to axis of rail and are welded to its foot. Angle alpha is equal to <EMI ID=0.466 HE=12 WI=21 TI=CHI>. EFFECT: reduced overall dimensions, metal usage and electrical resistance of transition plates, increased uniformity of distribution of current over area of rail welded contacts. 1 tbl, 2 dwg
