PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost antireflection film having a large area and excellent in optical characteristics and film strength by firming a low refractive index layer by coating with a specified compsn. SOLUTION: A high refractive index layer 12 is formed on a transparent film (substrate) 13 and a low refractive index layer 11 is formed on the high refractive index layer 12 to obtain the objective antireflection film. The low refractive index layer 11 is formed by coating with a compsn. contg. 100 pts.wt. (expressed in terms of organosilane) hydrolyzate of organosilane represented by the formula R<1> Si(OR<2> )3 (where R<1> is a 1-8C org. group and R<2> is 1-5C alkyl or 1-4C acyl) and/or its partial condensation product, 0-150 pts.wt. (expressed in terms of diorganosilane) hydrolyzate of diorganosilane represented by the formula R<1> 2 Si(OR<2> )2 and/or its partial condensation product, 2-300 pts.wt. silyl group-contg. vinyl resin having at least one prescribed silyl group in the polymer and 2-300 pts.wt. fine particles of a fluorine-contg. polymer having 5-200 nm average particle diameter.
