PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connecting structure which allows the simplification of alignment at the time of optical connection and higher density integrated packaging and is high in productivity. SOLUTION: This optical connecting structure connects plane type photoelectric conversion elements 12 disposed on a substrate 11 in such a manner that their light emitting and receiving surfaces are made approximately flush with the substrate 11 surface and optical fibers 14 mounted in parallel with the substrate 11 surface by optical waveguide elements 13 which include lower clad parts 16 consisting of a siloxane polymer, a core part 17 formed thereon and upper clad parts 18 covering the surfaces of the core parts 17 and of which the one-side ends cover the light emitting and receiving surfaces of the plane type photoelectric conversion elements 12 and the other-side ends face the end faces of the optical fibers 14. The space between the optical waveguides 13 are optically separated from each other by separating layers having a refractive index lower than the refractive index of the clad parts 16, 18 or gaps 19. As a result, the excellent planarization of the optical waveguide elements 13 is obtd., the higher density integrated packaging is made possible and the generation of crosstalks is suppressed. |
