PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic disk having good controllability and productivity by dropping and applying a soln. contg. prescribed particulates at a ratio of one piece in one drop to the plural points of the part to be provided with ruggedness on a protective film surface and subjecting the entire surface of a protective film as a masking material to etching of the depth smaller than the thickness of the protective film, then removing the film and forming a lubricating layer. SOLUTION: The disk 1 successively laminated with a ground surface film, a magnetic film and the protective film on a glass substrate is placed on a turn table 11 and is rotated. When the turn table 11 is passed along the prescribed position by a light shielding plate 13 and an optical sensor 12, one drop of the soln. 3 contg. one piece of the silica spherical particulate is discharged at a prescribed pitch from an ink jet head 5. This discharge is stopped after one turn and the coated disk 1 is subjected to an etching quantity of 100Åby shifting the radius of plotting and, thereafter, the silica spherical particulates are washed and removed and the lubricating layer is disposed. As a result, the smooth formation of the magnetic film is made possible. The output efficiently at the time of recording and reproducing is excellent and a noise level is lowered.
