PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quantify a coating material, particularly wax, without using carbon tetrachloride by heating the coating material washed and eluted with a sample by an organic solvent, concentrating, separating, and re-vaporizing it, then detecting it with a hydrogen ionization detector. SOLUTION: A coated sheet coated with wax on both faces is punched by a coated sheet punching robot 11 to obtain a sample 21, and the sample 21 is transferred to a washing/extracting device by a conveying cassette 23. The surface and back face of the sample 21 are washed to extract wax into a solvent, and the cleaning solvents containing wax are stored in containers fractionating for the surface and the back face. A fixed quantity of the cleaning solvent for the surface or the back face object to measurement is injected into the heating separator of a quantifying device 17 by an automatic sampling bottle 15, wax is separated, and the quantity of wax is measured by a hydrogen flame ionization detector. The quantified result of the quantifying device 17 is sent to a computer 19, and the wax quantity for unit area can be calculated from this result, the calibration curve stored in a ROM 33 or a RAM 35, the sample surface area, and the quantitative data of the cleaning solvent. |
