PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image stabilizing device in which image quality of an image forming device of such a type that irradiation time of writing light is changed to change the size of a basic picture element, and pattern image reading device to be used for that. SOLUTION: A pattern image reading device 100 to read a pattern image for measurement formed on a transfer/carrier belt 26 comprises a reading unit 2 at least provided with a semiconductor laser 3, a condenser lens 6, and a photosensor 5 to read reflection light quantity, and a moving part incorporating a moving coil 7c to move the reading unit 2 in a main scan direction, so the size of a toner image formed on the surface of the transfer/carrier belt 26 in the main scan direction is measured by the micron order by monitoring output of the photosensor 5 while it moves in the main scan direction under control of a CPU 48. The CPU 48 then corrects look-up tables 45a-45d in accordance with the measured dot diameter in the main scan direction. |
