PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which prevents the partial tight adhesion between a polarizing element and polarizing plates and exhibits a good display grade. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device has a liquid crystal cell constituted by holding a liquid crystal layer 2 between a pair of substrates 1a and 1b, a pair of the polarizing plates arranged on the outside surface of the liquid crystal cell and a surface light source part arranged on one side of a pair of the polarizing plates. The polarizing element 6 which allows the transmission of the polarizing beam approximately aligning to the transmission axis of the one polarizing plate and reflects the rest is arranged between the one polarizing plate and the surface light source part 5. The polarizing plate 4 and the polarizing element 6 are adhered to each other via a tacky adhesive layer 7. |
