The method and the equipment are used in secondary metallurgyand in the chemical industry. They guarantee the utilization oflead discarded storage batteries by their separation in compositefractions - metal, oxide sulphate, polypropylene (polyethylene)and mixed ebonite- polyvinylchloride fraction. The method consistsin counter direction separation in an internal recirculationstream of heavy suspension of water and oxide sulphate fractionhaving 1.7-2.3 kg/dm3 density, when crushed discarded storagebatteries are fed in the middle of the stream. The device is inthe form of a rotational drum including a cylindrical part toboth ends of which conical parts are mounted as well as a feedingdevice coaxially fitted to it - tubular conveyor - which run inopposite directions. Spiral bands are mounted on the inner wall ofthe drum, and pushing screw-type blades which are submerged in thesuspension are fitted along the outer wall of the tubularconveyor.
