PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and a method for turning on its heater capable of preventing the change of a power source voltage without sacrificing a start-up performance of the heater. SOLUTION: A CPU 24d of a laser printer is provided with a soft start executing mode decision means 24e furnished with a cold heater soft start mode and a normal controlled soft start mode in accordance with the temp. of a heat roller, and a heater soft start means 41a furnished inside a printer controlling device 24 is provided with a soft start time switching means having a soft starting time T1 and time T2 according to the above respective soft start executing mode. Then, on selecting the soft start execution mode by the soft start execution mode decision means 24e according to the detected temp. of the heat roller at the time of heater turning on, and by transmitting the signal in accordance with the mode to the soft start time switching means, the soft start of the heater is executed during a time corresponding to the soft start execution mode. |
