PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided an abnormality detection method capable of easily detecting abnormality of a front distance measuring device. SOLUTION: A vehicle 2 is stopped in an abnormality detection area 22 for detecting abnormality of a front distance measuring device measuring the distance to a front object of the vehicle 2. The distance to a target measuring object 30 placed in the front is measured with the front distance measuring device. Based on the actual distance from the abnormality detection area 22 to the target measuring object 30 and the distance measured with the front distance measuring device.
