The ignition system is supplied from a permanent magnet alternator (PO1). The alternator is controlled by an electronic control system (Z1). The electronic control system is reset or re-initialised at least once during each rotation of the engine. The vehicle management system can also be rendered inoperative during the period in which the ignition plugs are fired.
