PROCESS FOR CONSTRUCTING INTAKE PIPE

A process for constructing an intake pipe comprising building a starting shaft (10), breaking the wall of the starting shaft (10), and starting a shield driver toward the seaside to construct a shield tunnel (12), wherein the tunnel (12) serving as an intake pipe after the construction is constructed by assembling segments (14) successively in a ring shape behind the shield driver as it moves ahead. The segments (14) used are an RC segment (18) and a ductile segment (20). The segment (20) is provided with lidded intake holes. After the construction of the tunnel (12), compressed air is forced into the segment (20), and workers enter the tunnel (12) to remove the lids of the segment (20). After the lids are removed, seawater is taken into the tunnel (12) via the intake holes (20c) while gradullay reducing the pressure of the compressed air to prevent seawater from rushing into the tunnel (12).
