A group of cigarette packs are enclosed by a jacket of thin cardboard, paper, etc. The jacket has a tear-open strip (38), which is defined by two parallel perforation lines (39,40) and can be removed from the jacket. It extends around the complete jacket. The cigarette packs are formed into at least two groups within the jacket, and the tear-open strip extends in the joint plane (24) between the groups.
