The invention concerns a method for treating a solid material whereof the chemical structure defines the reactive protogenous hydrophilic functions accessible to gases by applying at least a gas stream (3) on at least a micro-dispersion (5) of at least a grafting reagent RX produced on the solid material, R being a hydrophobic group, X being selected such that HX is volatile in normal conditions, R and X being selected such that the reaction of RX on the hydrophilic functions produces the covalent grafting of the hydrophobic groups R with formation of the compound HX, the reaction capable of being carried out in heterogeneous solid gas medium on all the reactive hydrophilic functions accessible to gases and only thereon. The invention also concerns the resulting hydrophobic solid material, and is useful for obtaining natural or artificial fibrous or mineral structures impermeable to water and to aqueous solutions and/or absorbing fats.
|
