The invention relates to a preparation instrument for surgical operations, consisting of a working instrument, such as a cutting blade, which is fixed to a holding element, such as a handle. The invention provides for coagulation devices comprising a gas supply unit for supplying an ionizable (noble) gas and current supply units for supplying an HF coagulation current. According to the invention, electrode devices belonging to the current supply unit are arranged separately from the working instrument but at a close distance thereto and the working instrument is electrically insulated in such a way that the coagulation current can be applied to the tissue even when the working instrument is in contact with the tissue but without circulating in said working instrument.
