A coaxial connector comprises a cable end assembly (78) terminated to a coaxial cable (1), whereby an inner contact (8) is crimped to the cable inner conductor (2) and abuts an end of a resilient insulative adapter (58) lodged in a recess (56) at a front end of cable end assembly (78). The cable end assembly (78) can then be assembled to the mating end assembly (80). The latter enables particularly thin coaxial cables to be terminated to a connector without buckling the cable.
