<p>A method for eliciting an immune response against a virus or other pathogens in a mammalian subject is provided. The method includes the steps of providing a particle coated with DNA encoding an antigen derived from a virus, and then administering the particle to mucosal tissue of the mammal using particle-mediated delivery techniques, whereby the particle is delivered into a recipient cell in said tissue. The technique is capable of inducing an effective mucosal immune response in mammals.</p> |
