<p>The enzyme 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid decarboxylase has industrial applications for the decarboxylation of ring mounted carboxyls, specifically the decarboxylation of 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid to catechol. This invention relates to the isolation of a nucleic acid sequence from Aspergillus niger that encodes an enzyme that decarboxylates 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid. This invention further discloses the nucleic acid sequence, the protein sequence, vectors comprising the nucleic acid sequence, cells transformed with the nucleic acid sequence, and methods for the production of 2,3-dihydroxybenzoic acid decarboxylase.</p> |
