The paper shredder with DC motor has a switching circuit with a current sensor and a switch that blocks motor current when it reaches specified threshold. A switching circuit (15) is provided to control the current to the motor which is connected so that it conducts current to the motor and blocks the current when it reaches a specified value. The circuit has a current sensor (20) to compare the motor current with the specified value. The circuit has a switch (60) which is in series with the motor and passes or blocks the current. The manual switch has a forwards adjustment to drive the motor and a backwards adjustment to reset an over current condition.
