Self-riveting drilling rivet

The rivet has the head of its mandrel in the form of a drill bit (1) to drill the rivet hole. The rivet rod (4) and shell have a thread pair (2) of opposite hand to the cutting direction of the head. The shell is conical below the rivet shell joint (5). The rotation of the drill creates the required deforming force normal to the component surface by means of the thread pair. Eventually, the traction force rises above the shear limit of an intended break point (3) of the rivet, which breaks off.
