The device has at least two push buttons, the first button (8) permitting incrementation of the number displayed by one of the two displays (2) and the second (10) for decreasing one of the two displays. The first two buttons act on the first two significant figures, additional buttons (12,22) act on the next two significant figures. The device further includes a microprocessor (4). A power supply (6) is available. Input of a rate of exchange or other factor for converting between the two displayed values is by means of two menus which are displayed when the system is switched on or zeroed using the zero button (18). The microprocessor works in combination with logic algorithms.
